Independent service provider — not a public authority, not a platform operator, no partnership.

Our role in a notice

In short: we file on behalf of a rightsholder, never as the rightsholder.

Role 1

Rightsholder

The person or company to whom the rights in the protected work actually belong. Copyright stays entirely with them.

Role 2

DMCA Agency Deutschland

Acts as authorised representative — on the basis of a documented mandate, in the rightsholder’s name.

An authorisation transfers no rights. DMCA Agency Deutschland never becomes the owner of a client’s work.

Role
Authorized Representative
Ownership
Remains with the client; an authorization transfers no rights.
Signature
The full legal name of the authorized individual — not a company name — wherever a platform requires a personal signature.

Authorization chain

A notice from this agency presupposes a documented Letter of Authorization that exists before submission.

  1. Position 1

    Copyright owner

Holds the rights in the protected work. The rights stay there — entirely and at all times.

  2. Position 2

    Letter of Authorization

A documented authorization stating scope, platforms and validity period. It exists before submission.

  3. Position 3

    DMCA Agency Deutschland

Prepares, reviews and files — within the scope the authorization covers, and no further.

  4. Position 4

    Authorized Representative

The role stated to the platform. Not "Copyright Owner" — that role stays with position 1.

An authorization transfers no rights. It permits acting in the rightsholder’s name, and nothing else.

How to verify an authorization

  1. Write to the verification mailbox

Send your enquiry to verification@dmcaagency.de, quoting the case or authorization reference from the notice where you have one.

  2. We check it

We reconcile the reference against our case records and check whether a valid authorization of the stated scope existed at the time of the notice.

  3. We answer to the extent required

You receive confirmation of the existence, scope and validity period of the authorization. On a reasoned request from a legitimate recipient we provide suitable evidence — but not the underlying contract in full.

Handling of verification enquiries
Working hours
Monday–Friday · 09:00–17:00 Uhr (CET/CEST)Europe/Berlin
Case submission
Available online at any time.
Initial case assessment
typically one business dayAn agency target, not a contractual guarantee. How long a platform takes is decided by the platform.
Weekends
For existing engagements, limited weekend handling may be available in urgent matters. No fixed weekend hours are promised.
Public holidays
Public holidays in Germany differ by federal state. Handling may be delayed on holidays at the agency’s registered office; a precise holiday calendar will be published once that office is registered and evidenced.

Reference schemes

Five objects, five reference types. A notice quotes the case reference; authorization queries also quote the authorization reference.

  • Case

    DEA-YYYY-NNNNNN

    Format example DEA-2026-000001

One matter; may cover several works and many reported uses.

  • Work

    DEA-WNNNNNN

    Format example DEA-W000001

Not year-bound — a work stays the same work across years.

  • Authorization

    DEA-AUTH-YYYY-NNNNNN

    Format example DEA-AUTH-2026-000001

Covers one or more cases within its scope.

  • Evidence package

    DEA-EV-YYYY-NNNNNN

    Format example DEA-EV-2026-000001

The evidence belonging to one case.

  • Notice

    DEA-NOT-YYYY-NNNNNN

    Format example DEA-NOT-2026-000001

A single submission to one recipient.

Illustrative only — not a real record.

Planned reference lookup

No public lookup by reference exists yet. So that nobody waits for one, here is what it is specified to return — and what it never will.

Not available yet

The address /verify/{reference} is not live. Until it is, every check runs through verification@dmcaagency.de.

What a lookup will never return

  • The engagement contract or the letter of authorization in full
  • Identity documents
  • Signatures
  • Confidential evidence from the case file
  • Internal notes and correspondence
  • The rightsholder’s identity where its disclosure is not covered

What we disclose — and what we do not

On a reasoned request

  • That an authorization existed at the time of the notice
  • Its subject-matter scope: work, platform, period
  • The rightsholder’s name, where its disclosure is covered
  • Confirmation that the notice came from us
  • A contact route for questions about the case

Not published

  • The engagement contract in full
  • Fees and commercial terms
  • Internal communication with the client
  • Personal data beyond what is necessary
  • Details of cases that are not the subject of the enquiry

Why the contract is not published: a letter of authorization routinely contains information about the client and about third parties — work catalogues, commercial terms, named contacts. None of it is needed to check a notice. What is needed is confirmation that an effective authorization of the stated scope existed. That is exactly what we give.

Impersonation

The name of an enforcement agency is worth misusing: a message demanding a removal under someone else’s name looks credible at first glance. So, without exception:
